Earn a Boatload of Points Joining Dating Websites

The British Airways online shopping portal is offering double Avios points on purchases until March 5, 2017.

Match.com offers 150 Avios per dollar spent.

If you sign up for all the options (go with the basic plan instead of the bundle plan to drive up the price), you should end up with a bill of $548.  At 150 Avios/$ you should earn 82,285 points (which is basically buying points for 0.67 cents each).

You'll also earn a minimum of 548 points for whatever card you put this on as well.

Notes if you do this offer

  1. This is a limited time offer, so make SURE the British Airways portal says 150 Avios / $1 until 05/03/2017.
  2. Confirm the details.  Looks like the Match.com Avios offer is only good for NEW subscribers.
  3. Take a screenshot of the offer page and your confirmation page in case you need to contest the points added to your British Airways Executive Club account.
  4. Ensure your partner/significant other knows why you're signing up for dating sites.
  5. This will auto-renew, so make sure to set a calendar reminder to cancel before your first year is up

You can also do this with eHarmony at 130 Avios per dollar spent.

Why British Airways Avios?

This is one of the best points currencies available because their award chart is DISTANCE BASED.

Need a last minute trip Los Angeles - San Francisco or New York - Chicago on American or Alaska?  7,500 Avios.  That would be at least 12,500 points on a legacy carrier.

Los Angeles - Honolulu on American or Alaska?  12,500 Avios.  Most legacy carriers charge a premium to Hawaii, but not with Avios because it's distance based regardless of popularity of destination.

Most Airlines have a close-in booking fee for awards redemptions.  British Airways does not.  You can book a flight to fly out that same day without a fee

Note that because awards are distance based, there are some trips that DO NOT MAKE SENSE TO BOOK USING AVIOS.
